Anderson’s Corner

The unincorporated community of Anderson’s Corner is situated in central Sussex County in the state of Delaware. The neighborhood is just south of Harbeson and east of Georgetown. Some of the other neighboring communities include White Horse Farm, Arabian Acres, and Wood Branch. The town’s center is located at the intersection of Harbeson Road, Stockley Road, and Forest Road.

History

The town was named after James Anderson, one of the two leading landowners in the area. Ellen, his daughter, married Charles Stockley. Stockley was born in 1819 and became a landowner, a farmer, and a politician. He served as the Governor of Delaware beginning in 1883 until 1887. Additionally, he was the county’s treasurer in 1856, during the same time he became the county sheriff. Stockley Road was named in his honor.

Neighborhood

In the northern section of the community is the Warrington Manor Lavender Fields. The property is home to many gardens such as a bee and butterfly garden, wildflower garden, and Dahlia garden. A gift shop on the farm has many different lavender items for sale, including:

  • tea
  • edible dried lavender leaves

The lavender farm opens up to the public for the following:
