The pond is privately owned, but up until September of 2021 allowed public access for fishing and kayaking. An insurance issue has forced the owner to restrict entry to the pond and its surrounding shore areas. It is one of only two ponds that are privately owned in the state of Delaware. This also means it is not maintained or serviced by the state.
