The neighborhood is northeast of Dover, the capital of Delaware, and is inside Kent County. The Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway, or Delaware Route 1, travels along the community’s eastern border while DuPont Highway, or U.S. Route 13, runs along the western edge. History

William Penn founded the greater area in 1683. Penn, an author, and Quaker was a significant landowner in the Lower Counties on the Delaware. The Delaware General Assembly laid out the area in 1717.

During the Civil War, the community was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Its large community of Quakers supported the emancipation of the slaves during the early 19th century.

Neighborhood

Dover Park is just the south of the neighborhood offer its residents and visitors many outdoor activities. The park was established over 50 years ago. Some of the many amenities included in the 28.2-acre park, in addition to the many walking trails, are:

Most of the restaurants are along DuPont Highway or U. S. Route 13. However, Mommom’s Ice Cream shop is on the south end of town off of Division Street. Just next door is Little Grocer Subs, a family-owned and operated sub-shop for three generations since 1984.

The Dover International Speedway is located to the north of the community. The speedway has been a venue for car racing for over 50 years. It is host to the Firefly Music Festival, which began in 2012 and lasted for three days. As many as 90,000 fans attend each day to watch the 100 acts perform on dozens of stages.

Education

The schools that the residents attend are part of the Capital School District. Some of the public school options for the community include:
