The unincorporated community of Andersons Corner is positioned in the central region of Sussex County, Delaware. The town is just south of Harbeson and is 8.1 miles east of Georgetown. Hollyville is located south of the neighborhood, taking Harbeson Road. Other roadways in the community include Anderson Corner Road, Stockley Road, and Forest Road.
History
The town was named after one of the two prominent landowners, James Anderson. Jame’s daughter, Ellen, married Charles Stockley. Together they had a daughter named Hannah that would marry John Henry Paynter. Stockley, from which Stockley Road was named after, was born in 1819 and was a farmer, landowner, and politician. He ended up being the Governor of Delaware from 1883 until 1887. He also served as the county treasurer in 1856 at the same time he was noted as the county sheriff. Stockley was credited at one point for being the major peach grower in the county.
Neighborhood
The area is predominantly farmland with few residential areas. However, the White Horse Farm, located at the intersection of Johnson Lane and Deleware State Road 5, or Harbeson Road, offers the community a wide range of homes.
