The unincorporated community of Federalsburg is situated in Sussex County, Delaware. The intersection of Fleatown Road and North Old State Road is in the center of the town. History
The area was originally a 19th-century village by the name of Fleatown that lied in the Cedar Creek Hundred. With the construction of the railroad, the town began to develop. In its early days, the community was home to two hotels. One was owned and operated by Samuel Warren, named the Fleatown Inn, and the other by Milloway White. Warren was known by the community for his late-night partying. He purchased the competing hotel when White died and shut it down, leaving just the one operating hotel. Warren died in 1843, and the hotel was sold to be used as a private residence. During this time the area was renamed Federalsburg. Two taverns within the town brought many visitors before the construction of the railroad to Ellendale. This bypass of the area ended the town’s business, and development did not pick back up.

Today the town has the Getaway Lounge and Liquor store for passers to stop as they travel along Dupont Highway.
