About the Park
Trap Pond became one of Delaware’s first state park in 1951 but was created in the 1700s. The sizeable freshwater wetland was once used to power a sawmill used in harvesting bald cypress trees. The pond is still home to the country’s northernmost natural stand of bald cypress today.
